New Neighbors
One of the highlights of our end-of-summer weeks has been connecting with a retirement center down the street. They don't seem to be called this anymore, though - living centers is what I see most on the signs. This is a really nice one, with one "regular" side and one dementia unit.
D#2 and I (mostly she, right now) have been volunteering here for various activities, and we were able to get S#2 hooked in recently as well. The center was having a little carnival, ostensibly to raise money but I think mainly just to have some fun. The activities director for the dementia unit made it all happen, working hard and getting families of employees involved.
The dunk tank was a highlight, and S#2 got to be the first dunkee!
D#2 and I had a more laid-back assignment at one of the ball-toss games.
And we got free hot dogs and Cheetos!
